Arts Help

Arts Help provides support and resources for creatives who are passionate about using their art to advance environmental and social justice. For this project, our team was tasked with redesigning the "About" section of their website. Arts Help wanted a more modern, eye catching design for their site. The goal was to explain Arts Help, while incorporating the brands new identity and providing an experience that is equally informative as it is eye catching. As the motion designer on this project, I took assets created in Adobe XD and added modern, smooth movement in After Effects.

Site Walkthrough

This screen provides a virtual gallery of the artists that are featured. As you scroll, the titles cycle through and new images fade into view. I applied smooth, visually pleasing motion to each element, achieved through manipulating the graph editor in After Effects.

Here we have a fun looping visual. I enjoyed thinking about how these design elements would work together in motion. We have the globe and striped pattern with a simple rotation animation paired with the green undulating blob, together serving as a call back to the header animation for the page. I applied mechanical rotation with the more organic evolution of the blob to create an artistic, modern feel.

Here we have a virtual timeline. When the user scrolls down, the timeline moves horizontally to the right. As the user continues to scroll, new titles and elements animate on from the edges of the pages. The motion here is smooth, but impactful to signify that the user has reached a new state of the timeline with each scroll.

This section features a simple roll over effect achieved by masking the image and revealing more of it once the mouse rolls over. I then added a green film over the top with low opacity to emphasize the selection.
